About WFN
Worldwide Faith News (WFN) aggregates news and articles from the news offices of national and world faith groups. Each headline links to the story on the originating site. Images are displayed on WFN when the originating site permits it.
The archival collection indexes more than 45,000 documents of full text official news releases and other documents, including policy statements, from the news offices of national and world faith groups.
The project grew out of the vision of George Conklin and J. Martin Bailey who watched the growing database of news releases and other resources in Ecunet’s denominational and agency news release meetings. They discussed with others ways to make a global interfaith news release database available to a wider audience. A study funded by the Trinity Grants program in 1994 led to the development of WFN. George Conklin has served as WFN’s Project Director since it’s inception.
WFN was a project of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA Communication Commission’s News Committee through 2011. It is now maintained independently.
It was originally designed in consultation with journalists, journalism school faculty, faith group news directors, and participating faith groups.
