Annual Conference business items are announced
The business items to be addressed by the delegate body at the 2025 Church of the Brethren Annual Conference have been announced. There are three items of unfinished business and six items of new business on the agenda, including recommendations for renewal of the agency status of Bethany Theological Seminary, Eder Financial, and On Earth Peace, and two new queries--along with numerous reports and the annual ballot.
DISU course ‘Leadership and Fresh Expressions of Church’ is now offered online
The Directed Independent Study Unit (DISU) titled “Leadership and Fresh Expressions of Church” led by Stan Dueck of the Church of the Brethren’s Discipleship and Leadership Formation staff has been restructured following the cancellation of the New and Renew Conference.
Shine curriculum launches surveys to hear directly from congregations and families
Shine: Living in God’s Light, a Bible-based Sunday school curriculum published jointly by MennoMedia and Brethren Press, is launching two important surveys this spring—one for congregations and one for families.

The Church of the Brethren extends condolences on the death of Pope Francis
Church of the Brethren leaders are sending a letter expressing condolence to the Catholic Church on the death of Pope Francis. The letter is signed by Annual Conference moderator Dava Hensley and general secretary David Steele, and is being sent to the Vatican and to denominational ecumenical partners that are based in the Catholic tradition.

Judge denies preliminary injunction in sensitive locations lawsuit
A US District Court judge has denied a preliminary injunction motion in Mennonite USA v. DHS, the sensitive locations lawsuit in which the Church of the Brethren is one of 27 plaintiffs.

New ministry addresses concerns around detention and deportation of Church of the Brethren members
In response to concerns raised by congregations in their districts related to potential detention and deportation among members of the Church of the Brethren, a group of church districts is working cooperatively to provide resourcing and support to affected congregations and to the whole church.
